Milk bottles came in several different styles, shapes, and
colors. Most dairies chose to have their bottles embossed
with private lables. This allowed the dairies to keep up with
their bottles and gain more exposure.
Biltmore Dairy embossed almost all of their bottles, even if
they were Pyroglazed bottles, which, like the totally
embossed bottles, would be embossed with the word
"Biltmore" on the bottom. Biltmore also placed embossing
on the bottles to encourage their customers to wash and
return the bottles.

In the early 1930's, Pyroglazing, or painted bottles, became
popular. This gave dairys many more options for slogans
and advertising. Pyroglazing was also much faster and
cheaper to produce than the embossed molds. Biltmore
would simply create a new template in their print shop and
start printing the new slogans. By the 1940's Pyroglazed
bottles were standard for most dairys including Biltmore
Dairy.

Milk bottle caps were also used for advertising and
information for milk bottles. There were several different
styles of milk caps used for the various types of bottles.
